Leaflet on preferential treatment in the Netherlands

If an employer strives for diversity in his staff, there are a number of instruments he can use to achieve that goal. One of the possibilities is targeted advertising, in order to recruit specific groups. Another instrument is a positive discrimination policy or, in other words, preferential treatment. Various stories are going around about preferential treatment, but what is a positive discrimination policy according to the law, and what is and is not allowed? This leaflet is a brief outline of the scope provided by equal treatment legislation for positive discrimination within the framework of jobs, work placements and traineeships.
